Tunisian Crochet Shawl Workshop

Take your skills to the next level with a beautiful crescent-shaped shawl! Let Lori guide you through the steps to work up an intermediate project.

Designed for Tunisian crocheters who already know the foundations, this class puts all five of the basic Tunisian stitches into practice while introducing new techniques like increases, decreases, stitch patterns, and the magic ring foundation row.  You’ll leave with everything you need to know to finish the shawl and the confidence to tackle more advanced projects.

Students will be provided a handout covering the stitches and techniques used for the shawl, along with the Tunisian Quick Crescent Shawl pattern by Aklori Designs/Lori Harrison.

Skill level- Students must be familiar with the basics of Tunisian crochet (forward pass, return pass, Tunisian simple stitch, Tunisian knit stitch). This is not a beginner course. This workshop builds on the skills learned in the intro class, or on existing familiarity with Tunisian crochet.

Yarn:  200g of DK weight yarn (Either one color, or 100g each of two colors), wound/ready to work.  This should be purchased from Birdhouse, and if you want to select your yarn same day, please come at least 30 minutes prior to the class to allow for winding. Lori suggests Hot Magenta Yarn Snowdrift DK in two colors. A sample can be viewed in store in the suggested yarn.

Hook: 6.5mm (K) tunisian hook with cable.  Stitch gauge is roughly 16 Tss per 4".  (If you know you have tight/loose tension, it would be good to also bring a hook one size larger/smaller but don't go smaller than 6.0mm)
